Jaw - TMJ physical therapy involves the Jaw muscle group. Jaw rehabilitation is physiotherapy treatment on the Jaw.

JAW - TMJ physiotherapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on treating and managing pain and dysfunction in the jaw, neck, and surrounding muscles. It aims to reduce pain, improve jaw movement, and restore normal function by addressing muscle imbalances, joint restrictions, and other contributing factors.

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) is an umbrella term covering pain and dysfunction of the muscles of mastication (the muscles that move the jaw) and the temporomandibular joints (the joints which connect the mandible to the skull)

What are the symptoms of the TMJ dysfunction?

The most important feature is pain, followed by restricted mandibular movement, and noises from the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) during jaw movement. Although TMJ is not life-threatening, it can be detrimental to quality of life, because the symptoms can become chronic.

other symptoms could be:

  • clicking or locking of the jaw

  • limited range of movement with mouth opening

  • headaches

  • neck pain and stiffness

  • dizziness

  • tinnitus
