Shockwave is an acoustic wave which carries high energy to painful spots and myoskeletal tissues with subacute,
sub-chronic and chronic conditions. The energy promotes regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues.
Shockwave therapy involves delivering focused or radial shockwaves to the affected area using a handheld device. These waves create microtrauma, which triggers the body's natural healing response. This includes increased blood flow, cell regeneration, and breakdown of scar tissue.
Shockwaves are characterized by jump change in pressure, high amplitude and non-periodicity.
The kinetic energy of the projectile, created by compressed air, is transferred to the transmitter at the end of the applicator and further into the tissue.
WHAT SHOCKWAVE TREATS AND WHAT IS THE MEDICAL EFFECT OF SHOCKWAVE?
Shockwave therapy is commonly used for conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow, and other tendon and soft tissue injuries. It's also used for ligaments, bone healing, wound healing, and even erectile dysfunction.

WHAT CAN EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?

After the treatment, you may experience temporary soreness, tenderness for a few hour or days following the procedure, as the shockwaves stimulate the inflammatory response.
This soreness is usually temporary and should subside within a few hours to a couple of days. Some individuals may also experience redness, bruising, or swelling. You can usually return to your normal activities, but it's advisable to avoid strenuous or high-impact exercise for 24-48 hours to allow the treated area to recover.
